How To Use Article Marketing To Your Benefit

One of the most common questions that you may hear from website owners, particularly those involved in affiliate marketing is this: how can I get more traffic to my website? How about targeted traffic? There is a simple answer to this, which I will explain in this article. What you need in order to get more traffic to your website, especially targeted traffic is this –content. This all involves knowing what people use the internet for and how they use it.

When people go online, they are generally looking for the same thing: information. Just think of how many times you’ve turned to the world wide web yourself in search of the answer to a question or to find a product or service you’d been looking for. Get the idea? People very often go online with a question which they want an answer for – and if you can position yourself as the go-to guy or gal on a particular topic, you can drive an awful lot of traffic straight to your website.

Keeping this in mind, ask yourself the following question (if you are an affiliate marketer, you’ve probably already asked yourself this, but keep reading; it may be instructive). What do you know best? Is there a topic which is especially interesting to you, one which you are something of an expert on already? This should be the focus of your website and will give you a clear advantage, which is that you will not need to do a lot of research for the next step in the process of driving more traffic to your site.

Take this knowledge and share it with the world. Write short articles; usually between 400 and 600 words is good about your chosen topic. You will need to write these articles in a manner which is engaging to readers and provides them with useful information on the subject at hand. Especially if you are an affiliate, you should use keywords in these articles; the kinds of search terms which someone might type into Google, for instance. If your specialty is 18th century Russian teakettles, then the phrase “antique Russian kettles” might be appropriate to sprinkle throughout your article to give your article a better chance of being found by search engines. Don’t overdo it though – an article which is overloaded with keywords comes off as stilted and is difficult to read, not to mention not very entertaining.

Next, you should submit your articles to article directories. There are many directories on the web and they will allow you to submit your articles for use by other sites, publishers of e-zines and so on. How does this help you? I’m glad you asked. You can place what is known as a resource box following each article, which will contain a brief bio and a link to your website.

Now we’re talking…

If your articles are informative and entertaining to read, they will be picked up by other sites, giving your article a much larger chance to be read and your link clicked on. This has another benefit for your site by improving your search engine rankings, further helping out your traffic. It’s a self-sustaining cycle, as long as you keep your articles coming and making yourself known as an expert in your field.

Now get writing and good luck!
